Gmail Smart-Delete Button Ver. 0.6.0 Released!
[for FireFox ver 1.5 & Greasemonkey 6.4 users]
1. Smart-Delete now redraws correctly after mail deletion.
2. Smart-Delete once again correctly responds to keyboard events.
Features: User defined keyboard shortcut - User can set which key they would like to use to trigger mail deletion. (The default letter is 'd', but by editing the script file any letter can be used. Just find the following line of code near the beginning of the script:
var TheDeleteKey='d';
And change the key letter to whichever one you like.
Be careful, though, not to select a shortcut already being used by Gmail!)

Download here: Gmail Smart-Delete Button Ver. 0.6.0
[To install, right-click the above link & choose 'Install User Script...' from context menu.]
Keep those comments and suggestions coming!
I'll try to implement any useful (and reasonable) suggestions you come up with.
Check back often for updates!

Seems to work great. Thanks!
Nice work! I love it!
Thanks for updating it - I really missed it after the 1.5 upgrade.
I didn't see a problem with it... it's been working wonderfully for me since 1.5 and GM 6.4... maybe I haven't fully updated something to cause a problem.
Thanks for keeping it up to date though... I'm sure we all appreciate it.
Thank you!!!!! I was devastated when I installed FF 1.5 and had no delete button. Using gmail without it just seems impossible now.
The delete button doesn't seem to be working for me.

...and who might you be????
Normally, anonymous non-specific comments saying something doesn't work are treated as blog spam and deleted. I'm in a good mood today, so I'll respond.
If you truly want help, you should provide some supporting information as to what versions you are using, what EXACTLY is the issue, etc...
...and possibly be a bit more social by identifying yourself (at least pick an assumed alias to humour me).
Strange...all I've ever gotten with this script, including this newest version, is a "Mark Read" button, not a "Delete" button. I would dearly love to have a delete button that deletes all the checked mail.
Hmmm...suddenly it's working now...and I love it! Thanks!
It finally works! I'm going cry... 8-) I was getting crazy, missing my delete button after the 1.5 upgrade.
Thanks for the great script.
ty, works wonderfully!
Gmail has it's own delete button now. Just FYI.
It looks like the end has come. It's been a good run!
@ Andrew
At least we made a difference...
So now I'm officially opening the doors to suggestions about what to write next. Any ideas?
I'd like to offer a suggestion. I'd like to see a generalized "map keyboard shortcuts" script. One of the things Gmail didn't implement with their Delete button was a keyboard shortcut. So, I can no longer press "D" to delete. I'd also like to toggle read/unread through the keyboard. Maybe even map keys to apply labels.
It was a great product. I only wish the Google engineers had offered a feature-complete replacement.
I suppose it's nice that gmail now has its own delete button, but what I really want is the keyboard shortcut. Maybe you could release a version of your script which didn't add a button, but instead just made the keyboard shortcut available?
